Piercing & Jewelry Care
Jewelry Care
Titanium Jewelry
Titanium jewelry requires little to no maintenance thanks to the material's natural benefits:
- Waterproof: Designed to withstand daily wear
- Stain and Rust Resistant: Durable and long-lasting
Gold Plating
Our gold-plated jewelry is made from metals such as sterling silver, brass, or stainless steel with a thin layer of gold. Over time, this gold layer will naturally wear off, as with all plated jewelry. Sterling silver will also oxidize over time. These natural processes are not considered product defects.
To keep your jewelry shining for longer, here are some simple tips:
- Make a habit of removing your jewelry when showering, sleeping, or exercising.
- Avoid contact with perfume, oils, water, and lotions
Piercing Care
Choosing Piercing Materials
When changing your piercing for the first time, it's crucial to be mindful of the jewelry material, especially for newly healed piercings. Using the right material can prevent irritation. We recommend titanium piercings for their many benefits:
- Hypoallergenic: Safe and gentle for all skin types
- Waterproof and Rust Resistant: Built to last
- Lightweight Comfort: Designed for everyday wear
Labret Jewelry
After getting a new piercing by a professional, make sure to use proper piercing jewelry, such as a labret. Piercing guns typically use jewelry with butterfly backs, which can trap bacteria and cause discomfort. Labrets offer several advantages:
- Easier to clean
- More comfortable, especially when lying down
- Minimizes tangling with hair, masks, glasses, etc.
Just Got a New Piercing?
Always remember to clean your new piercing twice a day with either chlorhexidine or a saline solution. Soak your piercing in salt water, and when using chlorhexidine we recommend using a q-tip.
Do not touch your new (or old) piercing, as it may irritate the area and introduce bacteria from your hands. Touching your piercing frequently is one of the main reasons healing gets delayed.
Professional Piercer vs. Piercing Gun
Piercing guns cause tissue damage, leaving your fresh piercing more prone to infection and irritation. We strongly recommend getting your piercing done by a professional. This ensures a cleaner, more accurate piercing that’s placed at the correct angle.
Trouble Sleeping with a New Ear Piercing?
Try using a travel pillow when sleeping or resting. It helps minimize irritation by keeping pressure off your ear.
